Well maybe not a news flash but I thought I would share some of the advantages and disadvantages of winters in Winnipeg.

Advantage: the river freezes and a path is cleared for skaters, which is good because it's hard to walk through 10 feet of snow.

Advantage: The cold weather and the abundance of ice allows for some interesting art. Snow and ice sculptures can be seen all over the city, some are even used to advertise.

Disadvantage: the housing in Winnipeg doesn't have very good insulation which is a big issue when it's -50 C.

All in all the winters here aren't as bad as they say although it does get cold and last forever. I'm sure there is a summer here sooner or later.
